Caravan & Camping around Glossop - accommodation in the Peak District

Glossop is one of the traditional " gateways " to the Peak District. Originally a cotton town it stands in the north - east corner of Derbyshire and on the west side of the Snake Pass. The Victorian affluence is easily recognised here, with the granite - built market arcade fronting the market hall, and well laid out dignified squares. The old town, Old Glossop, became a backwater of old and interesting buildings that commercialism left untouched, with a network of small narrow streets, closely knit cottages and an old cross where fairs were held. To the west of Glossop is Dinting Railway Centre and nearby, the splendid Dinting Viaduct.
